Café Sonneveld
Expect a warm welcome, brown interior and lots of cosiness in the heart of the Jordaan on the corner of the Egelantiersgracht and the Tweede Egelantiersdwarsstraat. As from the sunny terrace you can see the beautiful Wester church. In this cafe you will enjoy typical Dutch drinks and bites. Besides that they serve delicious meals; the menu varies from well-filled sandwiches, burgers and real beef croquettes, and from a nice tender steak to a real Dutch stew - throughout the whole year! You have come to the right place for both lunch and dinner.
Wim Sonneveld
The building is the former residence of Wim Sonneveld, one of the most famous Dutch artists of the last century. The building is owned by the 'Blijvend Applaus' foundation, which gives financial support to artists and helps them in finding affordable housing. The walls of the cafe are full of photos by Wim Sonneveld, a tribute to this great singer, comedian and actor.
Groups welcome
Although you may not immediately notice, the seating area continues a bit around the corner; on this side you can dine with a small group, but also larger groups can enjoy the great ambiance of this cafe. With about 50 people you dine semi-privately in this part of the cafe. Café Sonneveld is able to ofer a nice group menu to a maximum of 85 guests.
