De Koningshut

This famous cafe opened its doors in the fifties. In its heyday, from the early 1960s to the late 1970s, De Koningshut was 'the place to be'. Journalists, politicians, students, writers, artists, businessmen and wanna be's, stood side by side, talking and laughing. The name De Koningshut comes from Köningspils (a specific beer), which was the only brand that could be bought in Amsterdam during that time. Nowadays the cafe is part of Restaurant Haesje Claes. The interior is unique with lots of stained glass, leather, wood, deer antlers and lots of beermugs collected over the years.

The café has seven different draught beers and a large selection of local and regional beers such as that of Brouwerij De Prael. In De Koningshut it is also possible to order from the menu and the wine list of Restaurant Haesje Claes. De Koningshut is the perfect place for after work drinks, celebrating birthdays, or for an aperitif and snack before your dinner. Cannot choose between all genevers that are served?
